On May 15, 2025, under the organization of the Propaganda Department of the Yangxin County Committee, two foreign guests—Konishi Shoei from Japan and Isaline from France—were invited to visit the Antique Street in Shuiluopo Town, where they experienced the unique charm of traditional Chinese rural culture.

Located in the heart of the Folk Culture Industrial Park, the Antique Street features more than 150 antique shops lined up along the road. Among the grey-tiled and red-lacquered buildings, signboards like “Treasure Pavilion” and “Time Collection” exude an air of aged elegance. Sunlight filters through carved wooden lattice windows, casting soft reflections on porcelain, jade, and old items that shimmer with a gentle luster. The spring breeze stirs the copper bells hanging from the eaves, adding a rhythmic sense of time to this old street.

Stepping into the street, Konishi and Isaline first stopped at the “Time Capsule” Old Items Museum. As they pushed open the wooden door, a warm current filled with the scents of wood and vintage objects enveloped them. Inside, enamel jars from the 1950s, rusted “28” bicycles, and a wall of yellowed grain coupons traced a vivid picture of modern Chinese daily life. Isaline paused before one of the old bicycles, gently touching the leather seat and remarked, “Every item here carries the warmth of its era.” Konishi stopped in front of a vintage sewing machine, pointing at the faded fabric swatches: “These patterns resemble traditional Japanese textiles, yet they have a uniquely Chinese character. The cultural similarities and differences are truly fascinating.”

Next, they entered a pottery jar shop. Inside, various jars in different styles were displayed in a staggered arrangement. Some were rough and hefty, with bulging bellies like full granaries. Their rope and grid patterns carried the earthy simplicity of ancient agricultural life, evoking the imagined sound of soil clashing with fire. Konishi remarked, “It’s amazing how ordinary earth, refined by fire, can become such vibrant works of art.”

Using antiques as a medium, this event not only deepened the foreign guests’ understanding of traditional Chinese rural culture but also promoted cross-cultural exchange. The Propaganda Department of Yangxin County stated that it will continue to preserve the “authentic” atmosphere of the Antique Street, allowing more international friends to understand the rural guardianship and inheritance of civilization in China through these “silent relics.”
